Position Title: Database Programmer (GSD110106)
Desired Start Date: Immediately
Location: Database Programmer

Description of Duties:
Drayton, Drayton, Drayton & Lamar, Inc., a Tech Services government contractor, seeks a Database Programmer who is proficient with PL/SQL and T-SQL. This individual will provide expertise and guidance in the development, design, implementation and maintenance of database management systems in Windows Server as well as Linux environments. Additionally, they will monitor and provide database tuning and capacity planning. This position requires an understanding of, and ability to implement required security measures and strong abilities in writing stored procedures, ad-hoc reporting and migration scripts . Experience with MySQL, Sybase, ColdFusion, J2EE, Perl or other scripting languages would be a strong plus.


Required Background:

  • An Information Systems or Computer Sciences degree or related work experience is required (at least 5-7 years industry experience as a Database Administrator or Database Programmer)
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on development using the following technologies:
    • Oracle
    • MS SQL
  • Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience:
    • Scripting language (Perl or Unix shell)
    • Database Design Tools (Erwin, ERStudio, etc.)


Preferred Experience:

  • Oracle and SQL Server database design, development, implementation, maintenance, security, tuning, and capacity planning
  • Stored procedure development
  • Data migration planning, scripting, and execution
  • Database backups and restores
  • Disaster recovery methodologies
  • Other ad-hoc requirements
  • Exceptional communications skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, verbal, and written skills
  • Full software development lifecycle experience (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, & maintenance)
  • Excellent understanding of code re-usability
  • The ability to maintain, implement, and track hardware and software testing issues, maintain process documentation and procedures
  • The ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • The desire to contribute to shared projects in a team development environment
  • Willingness to learn and expand skills beyond this current position
